At some point in time if you own a home, you might have to replace one of your ceiling fans or add one to a room that does not have one. When you go out shopping for a new fan, there are some features that you need to be looking for to make sure that you get what you really want. Find out what these are so that you can make a better buying decision.
The first thing is that you need to know the proper height of your ceiling fan. For the most part, fans are about eight and a half feet off the ground. You will have to have some extension from the ceiling if you have ceilings over nine feet tall. There are fans that can hang as much as five feet off the ceiling so this should not be a problem.
Get a fan that is quiet. You don’t want one where the motor is going to be noisy making it worthless to turn on. You will have to read online reviews to get an idea about which fans are going to be quiet over time.
Get a fan with enough lighting for the room and lighting options that you can take advantage of. The ones with multiple lights are best especially when different groups of lights can turn on. You will have the option of having full light or partial light depending on how you want the room to look.
Find a fan that circulates the air with multiple settings. Sometimes you need a difference between just on and off.
Get a fan that fits the style of your room. If you are buying a brand new one, it may as well match your decorating scheme.
Get one that is energy star approved or one that can take the new CFL bulbs properly to save on energy costs.
Read as many reviews online as you can to get a good idea about which ones have overly negative features about them.
